September 8,1934   BREMER KIDNAP SUSPECTS FLEE - THREE WOMEN NABBED IN CLEVELAND,MEN ESCAPE -

 

Authorities of Ohio and Michigan tonight searched for Alvin Karpis,Fred and Albert Barker,kidnapers,and one un-identified man who fled from a residence here following the arrest of three women in a downtown hotel.The house is said to have been their hide-out for some time.The trio is wanted for the kidnaping of Edward G.Bremer of St.Paul.Authorities believe they fled toward Detroit,or possibly to Canada.The three women held gave the names of Mrs.Grace Sawyer of St.Paul,,Mrs.Winona Wolcott of Toledo and Mrs.Ethel Matterson of Cleveland.A 5-year-old girl was held with the women.She claimed Mrs.Sawyer was her foster-mother.A search of the residence from which the men fled disclosed the written fingerprint classification of Fred Barker.
